This valley is situated nearby Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park on the western slopes of the Black Mountains. This site is famous for landing of black-necked cranes abundantly on winter seasons. The birdwatchers can grab the opportunity to watch rare black-necked cranes which usually drift from the huge plains of the Tibetan plateau in winter to the warmer climate of Phobjika. These cranes are most significant wildlife preserved in the nation. The barking deer known as muntjacs, sambars, serows, Himalayan black bears, leopards and red foxes dwell plenty in the nearby hills.
The Nakey Chhu (river) pass through this marshy valley, calmly making its path towards the lower reaches of the Punak Tsang Chhu. This whole region is referred as Gangtey which was named after the goemba situated on the edge of valley.
