The Taktsang Lhakhang which is also known as “The Tiger’s Nest” is located 900 meters above the Paro valley. This most privileged holy site was first built in 1692 where Guru Rimopoche meditated in the 7th century A.D. It’s one of the best renowned tourist end point of the country.
The monastery is located at an isolated place which is 10 km north of Paro town and the temple visitors must trek through the mountainous paths for around 2-3 hours through a gorgeous pine forest.
Tourists are permitted to enter the monastery as per the timings as long as their guide has arranged the standard permit in advance. The registration with the security at the entrance is necessary and the bags and cameras has to be dropped. Capturing the photo inside and monastery is not allowed and Tourists are not allowed to take Camera. The trip to Bhutan would be incomplete without visiting to this astonishing inheritance site.
